DECISION MAKING MODEL

Phyllis will be presenting the Decision Making Models at the next Faculty Meeting.  The type of model used will be determined by the type of decision to be made.   She thanked the leadership team for their input into the process.

WASL WEEK

·        There was discussion on how to solve scheduling problems.  Nancy Barga led us through the scheduling issues, and we discussed them one by one.

·        Students will be taken from classes for scheduling info during WASL week.  Scheduling of classes will be on-line for students and can be done at home.

·        AP teachers will do preliminary work on auditing materials at SHS then go to Roeder to present.  All high schools do not need to match but they all need to be at standard.

·        There was discussion about the inequity in the amount of reading English teachers must do compared to teachers who just proctor the WASL.  Is it possible to hire retired English teachers and pay them as subs? Phyllis was asked to research the options.

CLASS SIZE

Class sizes are larger this year.  Phyllis explained that Peer coaching does not affect class sizes. The reason our class sizes are up is because we have fewer FTE this year due to a lower enrollment.

There was discussion about the possibility of an 8-period day to ease class sizes.  No one is currently looking at scheduling issues.  Phyllis will put a call out for those interested in working on this issue.

VIRGINIA BARNHART SURVEY

Questions were raised about the way the survey was handled.
