LEADERSHIP MINUTES

October 25, 2007

STAFFING FOLLOW-UP

Department leaders shared input from their department:

1.        Teachers would like to know the objectives of the staffing prior to the meeting.

2.        Is the staffing for an intervention?

3.        Do all of the student’s teachers need to be present even if the student is doing well in that particular class?

4.        Is this a one or two class issue or is the student struggling in all classes?

5.        Can there be some follow-up results – contract or goal for the student?

TIME FOR LEADERSHIP MEETING

The possibility of having the Leadership meetings in the afternoon rather than morning was discussed.   It was decided that the meetings should be kept at 6:30 am.

EARLY RELEASE BELL SCHEDULE

Maria Griggs asked for input on how teachers felt the new schedule worked.

Comments were as follows:

Ř        Some Running Start students are missing 80-minute classes

Ř        It is difficult having four days of blocks

Ř        We will need an additional BEA waiver because this makes teachers miss planning periods

Ř        John and Nancy should gather attendance data to see if it is making an impact on attendance

A district committee met last year to work on early release vs. late arrival.  The district committed to using this schedule for two years            .

SCHEDULE ALTERNATIVES

A committee from Sehome will be meeting with teams from the other high schools to work on ideas for class schedules.   They will bring their ideas back to the Sehome Staff.

TECHNOLOGY

The Computer lab in room 109 has been completed with all new computers and monitors.  We have 60 more computers coming.
