Principal’s Report:

School is up and running for the year despite a snafu with distributing schedules on the first day.

Prior to the start of school the teachers spent two days at the Squalicum Boathouse talking about goals, strategic plans, grade levels, etc.  It was a very productive use of staff time.

Sehome’s enrollment is down about 50 students from predictions, although freshman class is 330.  More kids at Running Start this year.  Phyllis is trying to track down where all the “missing” students have gone.

Lots of concerns about students not yet at standard.

Kathleen gave a report from the committee that had been working on Parent Connect issues.  She reviewed various updates and corrections that had been implemented.  She reviewed use by department.  The committee has started an FAQ and a list of requested enhancements that will be passed on to Betty Miller at Roeder.  There are more export options available this year.  The Student Connect feature would be interesting to look at.

Counseling Report:

Counselors are meeting with them 1:1 every week

9th grade English classes will be meeting with counselors

9th grade parent night has been cancelled

Open House set for Sept. 29

PTSA report

            Cosponsoring “Getting to Graduation” evening

Umbrella Fest will be at Sehome on Oct. 22

General Membership meeting Oct 11—Brett Greenwood, new food services director, will be the speaker

Over the summer, PTSA was able to purchase a new kiln for the art department

Respectfully submitted,
