SITE COUNCIL MEETING

September 12, 2007

Present: Patrice Clark, Steve Globerman, Karin Saadat, Phyllis Textor,

Ginger Thompson, Jane Wynn.

· Patrice Clarke was selected as facilitator.

· Phyllis requested a time keeper

• Time keeper will be for one month then the following month be note-taker
• Karin Saadat agreed to be time keeper this month and note-taker next month.

Next meeting date is October 10, 2007

OLD BUSINESS

· Website: We are currently in the middle of the rebuild, should be cleaned up within the next month.

• Website needs to have updated the members of Site Council, it’s outdated by a couple of years. Patrice will work with John Mangan on website, updating Site Council members and posting minutes.
• Phyllis will check on the status of the website.
• A need for a map of the school to be posted on the website was raised.

· FAQ’s - These will be posted on the website. John Mangan will track the number of hits each item receives to provide feedback on how useful each FAQ is. Site Council reviewed the FAQ’s from last year and assigned link categories to each question.

· Need to recruit Site Council Members

• Needed: 1 teacher, 1 support staff, 2 parents, and 1 student
• Ginger will work up an ad for morning announcement regarding the process for students to apply to be a Site Council member – Letter of interest to be submitted to Phyllis Textor.

· Security Update:

• The security system was cut from funding. We are back at square one.
• Steve Globerman requested that Site Council receive regular reports on theft/safety. Phyllis will ask Josh for quarterly reports and information regarding and hot spots.

· Goals: Patrice suggested we go back and look at Site Council Goals to asses what we still need to accomplish. Steve asked that we pole our constituents as to what they perceive our needs to be.

· Patrice suggested that the Mariner Memo spotlight a club each issue.

· Concern was raised for 8^th grade Orientation in the Spring. It was felt that communication as to whether or not students should attend was not clear.

NEW BUSINESS

· PTSA Report:

o November 17 is the first meeting in the library. The parent positions for Site Council will be opened up for anyone to sign up then the Parent Group will vote on representatives.

o Karin Saadat would like to pursue a Mission Statement for PTSA

o Karin Saadat would like to get involved in the PTA Legislative Assembly. She is looking for a parent to go the the October 5^th meeting.

· Principal’s Report:

o Parent Night is on September 26^th. Patrice will plug Site Council to raise parent interest in becoming a member.

o Tea with Textor will start back up in October; will announce this at Parent Night. Last year the parent meetings with Phyllis were successful.
