2009 Summer School/Credit Retrieval Options
Due to the multibillion-dollar state
budget deficit, the Bellingham School District will receive less state funding
for the 2009-2010 school year. As a result, the district engaged the
community and staff in a budget savings process to reduce operating expenses.
A limited summer school program for high
school students at one of the district's high schools will include some
credit-ahead and credit-retrieval course offerings, which will be funded
through tuition. In addition, a state-funded Washington Assessment of
Student Learning (WASL) preparation course will be offered to prepare high
school students for the August WASL retake exam. Transportation will be
available through partnership with Whatcom Transportation Authority
(WTA). More information and a high school summer school application will
be posted on this Web site. http://www.bham.wednet.edu/district/summerschool.htm

have been approved at the following institutions. It is strongly recommended that you check with your
student’s counselor to make certain your course qualifies for transfer credit
before enrolling and paying tuition.
