Here are some general literature resources that you may find useful in your English class:

Bartleby.Com
A collection of British and American classics spanning the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries (including a word search capability for the entire collection).

The University of Virginia's Electronic Text Center
A large collection of text versions of British and American works of literature. Far too many titles to list here, but it includes literary texts by writers such as Melville and Milton, and historical texts including scans of slave trading posters and personal letters. Very interesting collection. (Warning: a few of these texts are only accessable to UVA students and faculty.)

Barlett's Quotations
Part of the Bartleby site. This has a search engine to find any quote on the subject of your choice.

English Server fiction collection: From Aesop to Woolf
A large indexed collection of literature.

Wiretap Online Library General Classics of Literature
Many searchable text versions of world classics of literature. (Gopher interface may be confusing -- some authors alphabetized by first name or initial)(May be slow to connect)

Wiretap Online Library -- Poetry
Includes about 25 works from Alfred Tennyson's "Charge of the Light Brigade" to Yeat's "The Wanderings of Oisin". (May be slow to connect)

A Celebration of Women Writers
A great collection of women writers on the web.

Anti-Imperialist Literature
An interesting assortment from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries collected by Jim Zwick of Syracuse University. The site includes Mark Twain's essay on the Philippines and "The White Man's Burden" by Rudyard Kipling (including assorted critical essays, parodies and political cartoons that were sparked by Kipling's poem).

Jack Lynch's Literary Resources on the Net
A very good compilation of literary resources available on the internet (now with a search engine).
