Is Running Start a Good Choice for You? |
- Tuition is paid but students are responsible for books, transportation, special equipment, fees, and program costs.
- College classes are more challenging and students must be more responsible, disciplined, organized, and self-reliant.
- The average student's grade point may drop when attending college.
- Four-year colleges, (especially out of state) may not accept some community college credits earned in high school.
- All grades and credits earned through Running Start become part of your permanent cumulative high school transcript and permanent college transcript.
- A 5 credit college class transfers to the high school as 1.0 credit; a grade in a 5 credit class carries TWICE the weight as a grade in a semester high school class.
- Because colleges are on the quarter system and high schools are on the semester system, meshing the quarters and semesters can be challenging when scheduling classes and making family vacation plans.
