Computer Aided Design & Manufacturing

  CAD / CAM MANUFACTURING

Is open to students in the eleventh and twelfth grades. The course introduces students to the materials and processes of industrial mass production, and will focus upon student-directed research and development. Students are involved in design; advertising, market research and sales appropriate to a small manufacturing business. This course satisfies either an occupational or consumer education requirement.

 The first half of the semester focuses on the DESIGN LOOP process covering:

• Analysis and investigation of a Real-World Situation
• Framing a Design Brief
• Information gathering
• Generation of Alternative Solutions
• Choosing the Solution
• Developmental Work
• Prototyping
• Testing and Evaluation
• Redesigning and Improving

The second half of the semester deals with designing, manufacturing, marketing, and selling a product of their design.
