EDUCATION INTERNSHIPS ADVANCED

Grades: 11-12

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Education Internships 1

                        Positive attendance history required

                        Transportation to the site is the responsibility of the student.

Semester: 2

Career Pathways: Human Services and Education

 

WCC Credit: This class is the high school equivalent of Whatcom Community

College course EDUC 190 (2 college credits).

CWU Credit: This class is a part of Central Washington University's Careers in Education program.  Students can earn a 4-credit waiver for CWU EDCS 300.

 

Topics:

Students will continue in their non-paid, supervised, work-based learning internship at an elementary or middle school.  Their site teacher will act as their mentor.  Students will complete the Careers in Education Portfolio.

 

Special Interest:

·          This class is for students interested in careers in human services and

      education, as teachers, counselors or social workers.

·          Students will be placed in an elementary or middle school classroom

·          Students will receive a Certificate of Competency upon completion

 

Grading: Students are graded on course assignments, their Competency Journal as well as their completed Portfolio.
