PSYCHOLOGY
OF CHILDREN

Career Pathways: Health Care Services and
Human Services & Education
Topics: Students will study physical, emotional, social and
intellectual development from infancy through preschool. Topics explored include developmental
stages, developmentally appropriate care, and health and safety. This class is designed to increase
self-understanding and to provide students with child care knowledge and skills.
Special Interest:
· Simulation
parenting with "Baby Think It Over"
· Students
may earn their CPR Pediatric card.
· Our
in-class preschool is the culmination of our coursework in child
development. The students will plan the
activities and run this preschool, which runs for 4-5 weeks at the end of the
semester.
Grading: Students are graded on:
daily assignments, class projects, homework, exams and participation in our
on-site preschool. This class is a pre-requisite for many of the Early Childhood Education classes that offer college credit.
