One Year Advanced Placement Course

11-12 Prerequisites:Excellent grades in Honors Bio and Honors Chem

AP Biology is a college level course open to juniors and seniors that have excelled in both Honors Biology and Honors Chemistry. Recommended for students with a strong desire to pursue a career in health sciences. AP Biology is equivalent to an introductory college level biology course. Reading requirements for this course are rigorous and require a daily commitment in order to not fall behind. The first semester will focus on molecular biology. Topics will include: Biochemistry, Cells, Molecular Genetics, Heredity, and Evolution. For the second semester, topics will include: Taxonomic Diversity, Animal Structure and Function, Plants, and Ecology. Fetal Pig dissections are required. One should take both semesters.
